Lovely pictures Vivienne, I haven't been to Gibside for years, there's obviously been a lot of work done since. I'll have to put it on our list of outings for this year. You could suggest it for one of ian's 'dos' couldn't you? It's a pity about the entrance fee isn't it? Maybe they could get party rates...

Hi Maureen,

Thanks. I agree with you about the entrance fees. However, you can now get into the tearoom, giftshop, car park & toilets without paying. Yesterday there was a Farmers' Market in the main car park, so cars were directed into the walled garden. I assume visitors to the Farmers' Market didn't have to pay. It appears that you only pay if you access the grounds, including the Chapel and Stables. Although, when I went to the Christmas concert in the Chapel I only paid for the concert.

It's a big improvement from the days when you had to pay before you reached the car park.

I was working upstairs in another part of the Stables this weekend, but that area isn't usually open to the public. (Room with the Clippy Mats/ refreshments) It's used by educational groups. I'll be back in the bookshop on Tuesday.

Interesting Vivienne, I'll definitely put it on the list if we can get in part of it free! Well, then you can decide whether to see more can't you?
