Hi Murphy and Dora,
Nice to see your 'Green Man' pictures, I'll have to send you a picture of 'my' Green Man. He greets me each morning with a cheery smile.
I'm intrigued with Ingas' comments about a club that Ian mentioned, did anyone else hear it? I can understand her confusion if it's another colloquial expression ... I hadn't heard of truckshunters before!

Hello everyone,
Maureen...Faffing was an expression that Gilly Marples used to use quite a bit in her own blog.
Inga (as you can see from her comments) is of the idea that Ian wants to start a Faffers club. Now that is interesting.

Good Evening Folks/ Good Afternoon? Inga,

Well I'm always 'faffing' about. I never seem to get anything done in a hurry. I start doing one thing and find I'm tackling several other jobs and still haven't completed the first task. I put my car in the garage last night and thought I must remember to come back straight away and switch off the light. When I came indoors I remembered I'd switched on my laptop, so went into the lounge and logged on. About an hour later I suddenly remembered I hadn't switched off the garage light! I'd been faffing from one site to another. (Still waiting for the wireless router, Sid. I think they are faffing around. They are certainly faffing me about! I'll ring again on Monday, as I've waited more than the month I was told I may have to wait.)

I've been trying to find 'faffing' or 'Phaphing' in the dictionary and other reference books, but without success. Has anyone got a copy of 'Larn Yourself Geordie' as it may be listed in there? I heard Ian's comments about a club, but didn't think he really planned to start one. I think it was a 'throw away' statement, but could be wrong.

I hadn't heard of 'Truckshunters' too, Maureen.

Where's Hildie hiding? Do you think she's run off with her painter?

Hi again,

I found Hildie back on Ian's blog. She doesn't want to leave, so I've explained in detail why we've moved over. I don't think she realised that we'd approached him several times to provide us with a new post. I've provided Murphy & Dora's blog details so that Loz, Ian or anyone else can find us.

Thanks Vivienne and Sid for letting me know about "Faffing". I am intrigued, to say the least. What on earth is the origin of that word?? I know it doesn't really matter and it won't change the world for any of us but . . . this word looks like it could have originated from some Germanic language. So, there you are - having been born in Germany and not being able to connect that word to any German word I know - I can't help being intrigued.
Regardless of the words origin, it seems to me that anyone not able to enjoy "faffing" about should not be allowed to claim having any kind life.
I am still struggling with this way of communicating, so if I don't respond to something somebody posts, please forgive me. It's only because I just did not find it.
Inga

Hi All,
Nice to see that everyone made it, I'm sure that Hildie will be along soon and that Ian will understand that it was the most sensible route to take.
Talking about sensible, that's a good idea to post weekly as it makes the postings easier to follow. On my family blog, I post a new picture on Sunday and we just use that for a week then move on. So don't worry Inga, it's early days, we'll soon settle in!
Saying that, I notice that there's a new one now, so I'm popping over now, see you there!
