Congratulations to everyone involved in the two year fund-raising campaign to save Seaton Delaval Hall. The Hall, gardens and part of the estate were transferred into the safe hands of the National Trust on Thursday, and will be open to the public by Easter 2010.
Didn't we do well !!!

It is good news. I remember taking people to Delaval Hall in the 1970's when they held Medieval Banquets there. Picking them up afterwards was a right problem..to many people milling around.
I understand the good old Death Duty Tax played a big part in the Halls fate. Shocking really when you think about it. We know you can't take money with you when you go...but the government still gets its cut... after you've gone!
We had a family member who helped out with the washing up after those banquets Sid. I bet there was a lot of it!
A Merry Christmas Murphy and Dora, and you of course Vivienne.xx
Hi Sid,
Merry Christmas to you too, and all your family.
Lots of love,
Vivienne xxx
