Murphy & Dora are the mini mascots of Radio Newcastle's 'Nightshift' who enjoy sending postcards from their travels to radio presenter, Ian Robinson. murphyanddorastravels.blogspot.com has become a sister blog to Ian's own blog, truckshunters.blogspot.com. Please note that neither blog is associated with the BBC. They are purely social network blogs for like-minded folk. We welcome new friends into our network to read and use both blogs.

I had an inspiration re: password and voila! I'm just downright proud of myself!
Just saw a sculpture of chairs today on the "In Pictures" page of the BBC News website.

Wonder if the same artist created these sculptures?

Hi Inga,
Welcome back! I've just taken a look at the in_pictures page, but doubt it's the same artist. The chairs exhibit was constructed by the magazine Wallpaper, and is on display in London.
I've sent this photo to BBC Tyne, so they may post it too. The workmen were still assembling the structure when I took the photo, but it was finished later when I return to my car.
I bet they were brand new trolleys, not the ones with wobbly wheels or those that want to go sideways.
Perhaps it will inspire those who normally throw trolleys into the nearest river.
Hi Inga, hope you and your loved ones are well.
Hi Sid,
You're correct! I've never seen so many new and gleaming trolleys. What a waste of money! I think the sculpture would have been more meaningful if the artist had recycled trolleys which were battered and misshapen. Yes, it looked new and innovative, but how can you justify the expense in the present economic climate, especially as there are vast numbers of broken and discarded trolleys so easily available? I hope the structure will be dismantled and the trolleys reused by supermarkets when the sculpture is eventually removed.
